"Airpanes", Ring Around the Rosy, and a toddler bed

Memorial weekend has come and gone and we enjoyed every bit of it, especially since it was a "chill" kind of holiday weekend with no place to go.  We started it out with R's 2013 inaugural boating extravanganza.  We had no clue how she woud react this year since last year she absolutely despised her lifejacket. Since she's now > 30 lbs., we have moved up on the lifejacket pyramid and have one that seems to be a lot more comfortable (ie, doesn't appear to strangle her like the infant ones).  WALLAH!

We were VERY skeptical of the boat at first, but after some prodding and myself also agreeing to put on a lifejacket we made it.  I even got to sneak mine back off within the first 5 minutes without her noticing.  I remember how bad it sucked having to wear that thing till I was 13, but as I told the fish & game wardens (who gave us a routine boat inspection, it was Memorial weekend after all) I wouldn't have it any other way!

She loved it.  Loved the breeze in her hair, loved getting splashed by the water, loved doing the boating "wave", loved looking at the fish, loved endless snacks upon snacks (ha!).  When she heard a boat off in the distance she consistently called them "airpanes" for whatever reason.  I will have to give her credit though, they do sound similar (sort of?)!  Just yesterday she saw the boat and immediately stressed to me how she wanted to go out on it, so I think we've finally won her over.

Chad and Aaron had a pretty successful trip as well, catching their limit in Walleye.  Needless to say we had a few people over Saturday night for a little impromptu fish fry.

Which brings us to the never-ending Ring Around the Rosy.  The girl could do it for hours.  Luckily Miss Madeline was there to keep her happy (I've been told M is the exact same way, so it worked out for both of them).

Sunday night we had a little family grill out, nothing too outrageous but still managed to have fun. ;)

This was the also the day that R decided her toddler bed was indeed "alright alright alright".  We got acclimated to it by reading books on it, slept all night in it, and then Monday we did some cleaning so we could move her crib out and replace it with the bed, yaay!

And finally Memorial Day brought water fun with Amaia, chillin' with Uncle Ken & Megan, and Chad's smoked country style ribs.  Another great holiday weekend for the books.

BED UPDATE:  Monday night the girl fell out of it THREE times.  We looked into adding an extra rail, however I remember seeing on Pinterest last year (good ol' Pinterest) how you can put a swimming fun noodle under a sheet to keep kiddos in.  We tried this and the rest is history, it has worked perfectly!
